This test screens your body for the Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and
Hepatitis C virus (HCV). Hepatitis B is inflammation (irritation
and swelling) of the liver due to the hepatitis B virus (HBV).
The hepatitis B virus spreads through blood and other body fluids.
Infection can occur if you have:
- Blood transfusions
- Contact with blood in a health care setting
- Received a tattoo or acupuncture with contaminated instruments
- Shared needles during drug use
- Unsafe sex with an infected person
- Sharing persona items such as razors or toothbrushes
Many people have Hepatitis B and are unaware they are infected. Some people do not show any symptoms, while others may show flu like symptoms.
In some cases, the virus will not go away, this is called chronic hepatitis. The risk of becoming chronically infected depends on your age at the time of infection. Only a few adults infected with HBV develop the chronic condition.
Most of the damage from the hepatitis B virus is due to the body's response to the infection. When the body's immune system detects attempts to fight the virus, it can cause liver inflammation.
Symptoms Include
It can take 1-6 months from the time of infection until symptoms of acute hepatitis (short term) appear. Early symptoms may include: Appetite loss, fatigue, low-grade fever, muscle and joint aches, nausea and committing, yellow skin and dark urine due to jaundice.
The acute illness usually goes away after 2 to 3 weeks and the liver usually returns to normal within about 4 months. Some infected people develop chronic (long term) hepatitis. Hepatitis B is deadly in approximately 1% of cases.

Testyourpackage.com tests for both the antigen and antibody of Hepatitis B.
Hepatitis B Antigen Test
This is the most frequently and easily performed test for hepatitis B and is the first test to show abnormal results.
Hepatitis B Antibody Test
This antibody appears approximately 4 weeks after the disappearance of the surface antigen and signifies the end of the acute infection phase. Hepatitis B also signifies immunity to subsequent infections.

Hepatitis C Antibody Test
Hepatitis C is a viral disease that leads to swelling (inflammation) of the liver. Hepatitis C infection is caused by the hepatitis C virus (HPC). In time, the virus can lead to permanent liver damage.
People who may be at risk for hepatitis C are those who:
- Have been on long-term kidney dialysis
- Have regular contact with blood at work (for instance, as a healthcare worker)
- Have unprotected sexual contact with a person who has hepatitis C
- Injects street drugs or shares a needle with someone who has hepatitis C
- Received a blood transfusion before July 1992
- Received blood, blood products, or solid organs from a donor who has hepatitis C
- Were born to a hepatitis C infected mother
- Share personal items such as toothbrushes and razors with someone who has hepatitis C
Many people who are infected with the hepatitis C virus do not have symptoms. If the infection has been present for many years the liver may be permanently scarred, this is a condition called cirrhosis. In many cases there may be no symptoms of the disease until cirrhosis has developed.
Symptoms Include
Abdominal pain (right upper abdomen), ascites (fluid in the abdominal cavity), bleeding varices (dilated veins in the esophogus), dark urine, fatique, generalized itching, jaundice, loss of appetite, low-grade fever, nausea, pale or clay-colored spots, vomiting.
